For those who are uninitiated with the Company, Estrella Resources is an ASX-listed minerals exploration company focussed on the development of two major Western Australian nickel projects.

With a highly experienced board of directors, Estrella’s leadership continues to guide the Company with a dual-project strategy to best return value to shareholders.

1) Spargoville – Short term production and cash generation

The Company’s immediate focus is to develop the historic Spargoville Project. Estrella has maintained the nickel rights to three mining leases in the Spargoville area since 2017 and with sustained appreciation in the nickel price, underpinned by surging demand for battery minerals, management are actively advancing project development activities.

Spargoville is a high-grade nickel project located just 20km southwest of the mining town of Kambalda and consists of four historic deposits, 1A, 5A, 5B, and 5D (Andrews). Estrella’s initial interest is on the 5A nickel mine. 

5A was last mined in 1997, with operations focussed on a shallow nickel-rich oxide zone. However, a transitional zone as well as a fresh nickel sulphide zone beneath the mined deposit have been left untouched.

Follow-up drilling by Estrella has confirmed the presence of high-grade nickel from just below the pit floor to around 80m depth, boasting 16,000t of massive sulphide grading 7% nickel. The total mineral resource has grown to of 124kt @ 1.9% Ni, 0.15% Cu and 0.04% Co for 2,370t of contained nickel, and is open at depth.

Estrella is evaluating the potential for underground mining at 5A which offers improved grade control and ESG credentials, while also offering the potential to access the nearby 5D deposit ~500m to the west. The transitional ore from 5A is anticipated to be fed to the Murrin Murrin HPAL Plant.

The high-grade, near-term Spargoville Project has the potential to significantly reward shareholders as well as provide sufficient funding to further finance exploration at Estrella’s second major nickel project, Carr Boyd.

2) Carr Boyd – Medium-to-long term potential company-maker

Carr Boyd, located only 80km from Kalgoorlie, is a large-scale highly prospective exploration project featuring a major structural anomaly covering approximately 75km2.

The Project hosts the historic Carr Boyd Mine which was in operation between 1973 and 1977, and produced 202,100 tonnes at 1.43% Ni and 0.46% Cu.

In 2019, Estrella made the T5 discovery, encountering massive nickel-copper sulphides by targeting the basal contact of the intrusion ~1km away from the Carr Boyd discovery. Since this time, the Company has continued to prove up T5 as well as identify a host of other exciting nickel intercepts, both on the 20km long basal contact and also along internal mineralised horizons within the igneous complex.

Estrella has spearheaded new exploration techniques at Carr Boyd and has formed a geological partnership with the CSIRO which has proved extremely beneficial in understanding the Project’s significant growth potential.
