Copper Discoveries at Laleno Dome MTd Targets
Summary
Copper mineralisation has now been observed at nine separate sites along a 12 km stretch of the Laleno Dome margin in Timor-Leste, adding to the growing picture of what we believe could be a district-scale copper system.
The standout finding is copper identified within a porphyritic intrusive rock, a rock type commonly associated with the world's largest copper deposits. Samples from this rock are now being assayed and analysed under petrographic study to confirm the interpretation. Copper was also found in the Noni Formation and in altered ultramafic rock nearby, and the consistent pattern across these different rock types points to a shared hydrothermal origin.
It's worth being clear on what this is at this stage: these are visual field observations, not laboratory-confirmed grades. Eleven samples have been collected and assay results are expected in late September. Visual estimates can't be relied on as a substitute for lab analysis, and that's exactly why the assay work matters.
Alongside this, we're preparing to begin an initial ~3,000m RC and diamond drilling programme in early September, targeting three priority zones. This will be the deepest exploration drilling undertaken in Timor-Leste to date. A large regional helicopter magneto-telluric survey covering our entire tenure is also scheduled to start in September, with results expected before year end, and this is intended to generate further drill targets alongside the work already underway.
We'll keep shareholders updated as the drilling programme and assay results come through. If you have questions about this announcement, we welcome you to send them through the question box on this page.
